After playing solo under the alias A Helpful Diagram, Aaron Mangle teamed up with Pat Ryan and started making music as Cousins. The Nova Scotia indie rock duo embraced lo-fi in its approach and made fuzzy recordings, with Mangle doing the majority of the production and playing all the instruments (except drums), and distributed them as cassettes at shows. In 2009, Mangle decided to make a Cousins album on Youth Club Records, and recruited drummer Andy March and bassist Dalin Ursenbach to help out for the recording of Out on Town. ~ Jason Lymangrover, Rovi
