Sumru Ağıryürüyen (vocal, mandolin, keyboard, 19-string lyre harp) and Orçun Baştürk ( panduri, voice, keyboard, electronics, drums) have been creating various projects together, in a spectrum between traditional and avant-garde since 2013. As SO Duo, they play their own songs basically, writing their own lyrics, and using some texts from ancient/traditional/mystical poetry as well. Their music can be labeled alt-folk/other/indie/avat-garde. Sumru is one of the few woman free improviser singers in Turkey, and also known for her works in other genres, Orçun has a reputation as an outstanding drummer, composer and song writer. They are founding members of leading bands from avant-rock to traditional music. Both have performed and collaborated on many projects in many countries. After their SO Duo's first album 'Ay Ana/Mother Moon' (Kalan 2018) comprising their own songs, they recorded an EP 'The Light' (BILGI Music LABEL 2019) 'live' with Steve Gorn, a leading bansuri master. In 2020 May, during lockdown period, their third album 'Kırksabır / Patience Fruit' came as a 4-song EP (BILGI Music Label). Soon after, their first instrumental piece 'Sonbahar / Autumn' has been released on October 2020 as a single. In 2021, SO Duo So Far has been released as a compilation by Rumi Sounds.
