Formed in 2017 in Melbourne, ELLE are Australia’s most ambitious new pop duo. st. James, a lifelong singer and newfound songwriter, is ELLE’s voice and face, while Kristen S. Hé co-writes and produces their soundscapes. ELLE's latest release, a pair of alt-pop reinventions, has taken a darker turn: Cherry Love Dreams is a soulful, intimate indie-pop ode to bad decisions, and Siren is an experimental alt-R&B cut about big dreams and infinite futures. Both tracks come with vastly different music videos: Cherry Love Dreams’ gentle, nostalgic home footage, and Siren’s surreal VHS oceanscape. Recorded, mixed and mastered by Becki Whitton a.k.a. Aphir, Cherry Love Dreams and Siren follow ELLE’s grand, romantic previous singles If You’re Not the One and Summer Baby - endorsed by the likes of Pilerats, Cool Accidents, Purple Sneakers, Project U, Amnplify, and The Record Doctor. With each new release, ELLE lay out their vision of deep, reverberant pop music… and on the horizon, their debut mixtape Love as a metaphor approaches, set for late 2020. st.
