Born in Philadelphia, raised in Kissimmee, Jojo Rels, is a Haitian-American musician/producer blending multiple genres in his music. He has a more unconventional start than most of his peers, as opposed to learning in church he first learned how to play the guitar at six years old, practicing with his father and eventually learned how to play the keyboard from his older sister. This is when his love for music began to bloom. Heavily influenced by the Haitian-Canadian music scene which combine the sounds of Konpa, Dancehall, Afro, and Creole hip hop. With musical influences from artists such as Massiv3 and Joé Dwèt Filé Jojo brings a unique sound fusing traditional haitian styles like Zouk & Konpa, with R&B, New York Drill, and a touch of EDM. In his previous 2022 EP ‘Love & Fiction’ he features artists that also push the boundaries of genre with other upcoming artist. His ultimate goal is to bring universal recognition to the varied sounds of Konpa. Now he releases his new debut album “Novik” a taste of Drill music and Kompa as his petition for the Haitian music industry only begins. Drill isn’t the only genre that he plans to merge with the genre as he plans to bring different breaths of style in his upcoming projects.
