Firungi (meaning ‘foreigner’ in Hindi) is an Indian American artist, designer and nightlife developer based in Brooklyn. Firungi focuses on bringing people of all backgrounds together through producing ethnically-focused club music, creating live experiences that are centered around cultural immersion, and designing clothing that serve as bridges into foreign positivity. In 2021, he started the 'Firungi Funk' event series that dominated the club scene in his hometown of Seattle, leading to a move to New York in 2022. Since then, Firungi has received support on his music from Keinemusik, Jyoty, Bedouin, Hugel, and countless others while performing in many cities alongside the likes of Prospa, Mia Moretti and Bradley Zero. Having started production and DJing at the age of 10 due to his father, a staple in the South Asian underground electronic scene, Firungi is one of the strongest and most versatile artists coming out of the US. The idea that “everyone is foreign somewhere” is a guiding principle of Firungi, as he uses his art to further moments of cultural exchange between people around the world. People can feel out of place anywhere, and it’s the responsibility of artists to bridge those gaps and bring us closer together.
