Biography

Marco Pütz was born in Luxembourg in 1958. He studied music (saxophone, chamber music, harmony, counterpoint, conducting and composition) in Luxembourg, Brussels and Liège (Belgium). Since 1987 he composed more than 100 works, especially for Wind/Fanfare orchestra, but also for string quartet, 12 compositions for symphonic/chamber orchestra, two musicals for and a big number of chamber music and educational pieces for different instruments & piano. More than 70 CDs/DVDs including his compositions have been released since 1995: Antes/Bella Musica (D), Amos (CH), Mirasound, Bronshein (NL), Mark Records, GIA-Records, Albany Records (USA), Doyen Records (GB), NAXOS Records . . . . Marco's music is performed worldwide (Europe, USA, Canada, Russia, Japan, South Corea, Singapore, Australia . . . . and at wellknown festivals by pestigious artists like the Talich Quartet, Les Solistes Européens, DePaul University Wind Ensemble, Luxembourg Military Band, Orchestre Royal des Guides de Bruxelles, Orchester des Staatstheaters Cottbus, Harmonie St. Michael, Thorn, Orchestre Syphonique du Luxembourg (OPL), Robbert Vos, Julie DeRoche . . . Awards: First prize at the International Clarinet Association Composition Contest (USA, 1995), 2d prize at the 1997 Augusto Gagnan Composition Competition (Italy), twice finalist in the 2012 ITEA-Composition Contest (Austria), Plaquette d'Honneur (Union Grand-Duc Adolphe, 2017, Luxembourg), BUMA International Brass Award (2017, The Netherlands).
