Biography

Ruhaan79, is an Indian rapper and songwriter from Jaipur. His stage name reflects his artistic self, where the word ‘Ruhaan’ (meaning ‘soul’ in Hindi) represents his superego, and the numbers ‘7’ and ‘9’ symbolize individuality, uniqueness, and the patterns of the universe. He enjoys creating conscious, existential, self-reflective, and playful music, characterized by a signature blend of simple and dark sounds. His storytelling takes a unique form through the voices of his fictional characters, ‘Kaidi’ (intense and hard-hitting) and ‘Ruhaan’ (deep yet playful). The rapper made his debut with the album Kaidi No. 79 (2019), produced by fellow artist DAKSH. After exploring a diverse range of sounds, he has carved out his own distinctive style, evident in his recent works such as the album Living Proof (2021) and the EP Lost & Found (2022). Ruhaan also contributed his voice and lyrics to the EPBL Anthem titled 'Posterize.' Additionally, he is a founding member of Atrangi Funkaar, a five-piece band celebrated for its out-of-the-box and subjective compositions. The band's song Kho Gayi clinched the gold track of the year at IFP 2020 in the rock category. Atrangi Funkaar has released two EPs, Funk Shastra (2022) and Filmy (2023). Notably, he graced the cover of Spotify's 'Fresh Finds India' playlist. Tracks from Ruhaan79 have been aired on VH1, Doordarshan Rajasthan, BBC Leads, Radio City Freedom, Radio City, Red FM, FM Tadka, among others.
