Biography

She Ate a Scorpion is a two piece Brutal Death Metal band formed in 2014 by Lars McInturff and Evan Van Dyne under the name Fire Blanket. The duo went through many genre changes, with initial plans on making Progressive Rock. Things slowed down when Lars moved across the country in 2015, and Evan went on to join Technical Death Metal band Triguna. In early 2016, Lars moved back up to Chicago and writing immediately commenced on their debut EP, Desecration of Grotesque Impurities, with the addition of Tristan Lugo on bass. Recording was planned for the summer of that year, but was delayed until December due to lack of equipment. Tristan was silently removed from the band, and the final lineup was formed, with Lars on guitar/bass, and Evan covering drums/vocals. The EP was released on April 1, 2017, and positive reception led the duo to start writing for the debut full length album, Expeditious Aggrandizement of Xenobiotic Enormities, which was released later that year, because many ideas that has previously been written for Evan's solo project, $lamboy$ were used for this album. On April 1, 2018 they released a rerecorded version of the EP, featuring the song Helluva God, which was written along with the three other tracks on thr album in 2016. They are now working on their second full length album, with plans to record in summer of 2018.
