Destroy What You Love

Biography

Monsterland was an indie rock band formed in 1989 based out of western Connecticut. Feeding off the energy of the Boston and NYC scenes of the late 80's early 90's, Monsterland were part of fertile Connecticut ground that included the likes of St johnny, The Philistines Jr., HED, China Pig, Bunnybrains and more. Monsterland was one of the more successful bands from the scene that never reached its potential (or notoriety). The band included members Thom Monahan, Todd Cronin, and Greg Vegas. They released their first single in 1991 (Nobody Loves You/Used to Smile on Threshold) followed by Get Out of My Head/Plastic Vegas Hate Fuck on Rockville. 1992 saw the release of the popular Loser Friendly [EP] which was produced by Ultra Vivid Scene's Kurt Ralske. By 1993, Monsterland released their only full-length, Destroy What You Love, on Seed Records/Atlantic Records. Monsterland had played with the likes of The Lilys, Cell, Teenage Fanclub, The Boo Radleys, Madder Rose, Polvo, Archers Of Loaf, Dambuilders, Alice Donut, Superchunk, Velvet Crush, Lotion, Vanilla Trainwreck, Velocity Girl, Jawbox, The Posies, Yo La Tengo and many more throughout US and Europe by mid 1994 when the band called it a day.
