Hailing from Palmers Cross, Clarendon, Yung Ras is on his way to become the next big thing from Jamaica. The 22-year-old artist’s otherworldly vocals, soul and burning passion set him far apart from any other. Yung Ras's signature style is Jafrobeat– infusion of afrobeat, dancehall, reggae and pop with influences drawn from the likes of The Weeknd, Burna Boy, Wizkid, Master KG and Davido. Born and raised in Jamaica, Yung Ras inherited his love for music from his father, who used to tour alongside Bob Marley. The name, Yung Ras, was given to the artist by the fastest man in the world, Usain Bolt, who first discovered the young star in 2015. However, it was only until 2020, when Yung Ras himself started to take his innate talent more seriously. Since then he’s been actively making music in his Kingston studio with both local and international producers. Yung Ras is also making waves on TikTok, where he went viral with his hit track Bareback.
