Originate from Burkina Faso, Kady Diarra trained herself very young to music and dance through oral tradition transmitted by her parents who were griots. In 1998, she started her solo career after numerous experiences as a singer, dancer and choreographer in several companies in Burkina Faso. With more than 600 concerts in Europe, Canada and Africa and two albums out in 2004 and 2009, Kady Diarra, with a communicative joy offers a show in which sahel region’s musics sensuality are mingled with festive african percussions. In 2019, Kady Diarra works on her new compositions and surrounds herself with her nephews Moussa Koïta (bass guitar, percussions), Mamoudou Diarra (Balafon, N’goni, percussions), Samba Diarra (recorder, percussions) and Thierry Servien, the guitarist. All these talents gathered offer us a unique music. Kady Diarra rooted in musical tradition which saw her growing up, she kept traditional instruments (Balafon, N’goni) and is inspired by melodies sung by her grandmother and mother during celebrations in bwaba’s villages in the west of Burkina Faso. Kady Diarra and her musicians keep it up with that fusion in which west African traditional music is glorified by some energetic arrangements and influence by the groove of African American musics.
