Biography

PBR Streetgang are Bonar Bradberry and Tom Thorpe, two Leeds-based DJs and producers who make disco/boogie-infused house music. The duo met while hunting for records in Birmingham, England, and after immediately bonding over similar musical tastes, they soon began DJ'ing together. By 2003, they started a residency at Leeds' Club Mint, which they titled Asylum, and they named themselves PBR Streetgang, a reference to the classic Vietnam War-themed film Apocalypse Now. Bradberry began releasing solo productions in late 2007, and PBR Streetgang's debut record, Never Get Off the Boat, soon followed in early 2008 on Croatian label Red Music Records. Both tracks on the 12" sampled the Cure, adding a dark post-punk edge to the group's otherwise sunny disco-house sound. This was soon followed by Busy Bee later in the year, on the same label. The duo continued releasing EPs on labels such as Hot Creations, 20:20 Vision, and Futureboogie, in addition to remixing songs by Crazy P, Romanthony, Maxxi Soundsystem, Lana Del Rey, and others. In 2013, they toured North America for the first time, and brought their decade-long Asylum series to a conclusion with a closing party featuring Kerri Chandler and Maurice Fulton. Their Achilles EP appeared on Throne of Blood in 2014, and Cosine, a collaboration with X-Press 2, was released by Futureboogie in 2015. In addition to further releases on labels like Toy Tonics and Crosstown Rebels, the duo signed to the legendary Brighton-based dance label Skint Records in 2017. PBR Streetgang's debut full-length, Late Night Party Line, arrived in 2018, featuring guests such as Mattie Safer (formerly of the Rapture), Danielle Moore (Crazy P), and Ron Basejam. ~ Paul Simpson, Rovi
