Profondo Delle Tenebre (Italian: The Depths of Darkness), consists of members of the pioneering Steampunk/Progressive-Rock band Vernian Process. They are dedicated to creating dark cinematic dance music that takes heavy inspiration from classic 70's and 80's Horror/Sci-Fi/etc film scores. This music is cloaked in classic genres from Sleazy Disco, Deathrock, Post-Punk, New Wave, Industrial, etc. While being fused with more modern influences like Darksynth, Midtempo, Bass, Synthwave, and more. From Giallo Horror, Deep Space Adventures, Punk-Rock Zombie Nightmares, to Post-Apocalyptic Outback Wastelands, Profondo Delle Tenebre is a journey for your imagination. In 2011, Vernian Process founder, Joshua A. Pfeiffer started dabbling in some side-project ideas. One of which was a project with its roots in Italian horror cinema and various forms of darker electronic dance music. Recruiting fellow Vernian Process members, Martin Irigoyen and Steven Farrell, they spent several years writing and recording 2015's Esoterica. In 2020, Pfeiffer re-worked the album, to get it closer to their original vision. It was re-released under the name Exoterica In January 2023, PDT released the Sci-Fi/Horror concept album, "The Expedition". Inspired by the late 80's/mid-90's era of film soundtracks and musical styles, the album has a running narrative that was inspired in part by the Games Workshop franchise, Warhammer 40k, as well as the classic films Event Horizon, Aliens, and Die Hard.
