Biography

The story of Prada Leary is one of history, influence, and intention. His life and his art have drawn on such diverse inspirations as Danny Brown, Prince, and Bam Margera, and his mother’s work as a member of the Marvelettes and Motown Records has impressed upon him an intense desire progress and realize his full potential. This impassioned ambition once drove him to the edge of insanity, crashing against the harshness of the world around him and resorting to drugs and alcohol to satiate his ravenous hunger for glory. But now, hardened by experience and enlightened by reflection, he is ready to tune into the energy of his being to manifest what is meant to be, growing with his destiny rather than against it. Growing up in Detroit and now based in LA, Prada Leary considers himself “a battle-tested product made in 1994, and a gateway to the truth I will eventually speak to the world” Mentored by Kuniva of Detroit’s legendary D12 and eventually recording at Capitol Park Studios, where he would rub shoulders with Big Sean’s Finally Famous crew and the likes of Dusty McFly and Street Lord Juan, Leary built a network for himself that blossomed into opportunity both in his hometown and beyond. On the other hand, the primal anarchy of skateboarding culture (as is displayed in Baker 3, his favorite skate vid) has never been far from his heart, and he hopes to be a bridge between the seemingly disparate worlds that he inhabits.
