Ghanaian-American singer, songwriter and producer, Sam Opoku is making a mark on the music scene using his international roots to bridge the sounds of both cultures. Immigrating from Ghana to the U.S. at seven, Sam taught himself to play piano, produce, and write music all from his bedroom studio. The magic in Sam’s songwriting ability is found in his passion as a writer and poet, a gift he discovered after finishing as a finalist in the American National Poetry OutLoud Championship back-to-back. In 2020, Sam dropped his self-produced bouncy alt-R&B song "Yellow" which was featured in the Netflix show Ginny & Georgia. In 2023, he successfully sold out his first headline in Phoenix and performed at the halftime show for the Phoenix Suns. Since then, Sam’s viral song “Old” has reached millions across the globe and continues to push the boundaries of what the African diaspora has to offer. With cosigns from Timbaland and Darkchild, Sam is set for an incredible 2024. Sam finds inspiration in artists from Chance to Lil Wayne to Frank Sinatra and Beethoven. He's a fusion of Frank Ocean, Labrinth, James Blake, and Wizkid. Sam's voice is for those who don’t exactly fit into one box. Kofi is his Ghanaian name -- It's Kofi Szn!
