Biography

Singer/songwriter, guitarist, and pianist Jeanne Jolly doesn’t fit squarely into one genre. Her recordings feature elements of country, folk, jazz, soul, and soft rock, and she counts Nina Simone, Joni Mitchell, Dolly Parton, and Renée Fleming among her influences. A North Carolina native, she attended the New England Conservatory of Music, where she earned a master’s degree in vocal performance. Upon relocating to Los Angeles, Jolly connected with Chris Botti, toured with the trumpeter, and also collaborated with country artist Bob Woodruff. After releasing an EP in 2008, Jolly moved back to her home state, where she recorded another EP, 2010’s Falling in Carolina. She joined the R&B collective the Foreign Exchange on tour and was featured on their live DVD/CD set Dear Friends: An Evening with Foreign Exchange, which was issued in 2011. The following year, she released Angels on Foreign Exchange Music. ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi
