Henry Smith is a pianist who embraces simplicity and harmony in all of his pieces. His solo carrier started with piano covers of popular pop songs where he perfectly conveys the mood of the original songs with his emotional playing. However, as a true experimentalist and composer, he was always more interested in pursuing his own path, and in 2019 he finally released the self-produced debut album “Piano Relaxation”. Raised around music, his work is influenced by both the precision of the classical tradition and the experimentalism of contemporary pop. Inspired by the deep forests of Scandinavia, where darker days are considerably more numerous than light ones and warm summer air only finds its way a few weeks a year, some of the tracks have dark and dramatic elements. However, there is always a fog of natural light and tranquility embracing the listener and the word “Harmony” is a recurring description. It is clear that in every song, the nature is present in some way. The tones comes from the woods and fields; the melodies are inspired by the lush landscapes; the ambient sounds are influenced by the northern climate and the tempo are formed by the natural surroundings.
