Christian Westergaard is a Copenhagen based classical pianist who works with leading Danish and Scandinavian singers, including Elsa Dreisig, Mari Eriksmoen, Inger Dam Jensen, Bo Skovhus and many more. He has performed in venues such as Wigmore Hall, Musikhalle, Hamborg and is a recording artist for Dacapo Records. His upcoming projects include the complete art songs of Peter Heise and Herman D. Koppel for Dacapo Records, recitals with Elsa Dreisig and Mari Eriksmoen, the publication of the collected songs of Herman D. Koppel on Edition S and the Artistic Research Project ”From specialized to common practise – Historically Informed Performance Pratice in Modern Performance Practice”. In 2015 he was the winner of International Lied Duo Competition together with Dutch mezzo soprano Francine Vis. Christian held a teaching position in The Danish National Conservatory of Music in Odense 2010-1018 and has been holding a teaching position at The Royal Danish Academy of Music, Copenhagen and The Royal Danish Opera Academy, Copenhagen since 2006, in 2020 taking up a position as Assistant Professor with special attention to the Artistic Research Project ”From specialized to common practise – Historically Informed Performance Pratice in Modern Performance Practice in collaboration with assistant professor cellist Toke Møldrup.
