Biography

Julian Stetter is a producer, sound artist and mixing engineer who was and is fascinated by subcultural genres and their corresponding cultures. After starting off in music with his pop duo VIMES, he soon dived into club culture. His solo releases appeared on labels like Kompakt, Correspondant, Permanent Vacation and City Slang and he toured the major cities of Europe, North and South America and Asia, including appearances at SXSW (Austin, Texas), Echo Music Festival (Schanghai, China), Bahidora Festival (Estacas, Mexico), The Great Escape Festival (Brighton, England), Eurosonic Noorderslag (Groningen, Netherlands), iBoat (Bordeaux, France), Reeperbahnfestival (Hamburg, Germany) and Nation of Gondwana (Grünefeld, Germany). As producer Stetter worked with a wide range of artists such as Casey Spooner (Fisherspooner), Dumbo Tracks, Xul Zolar and C.A.R. with residencies in Mexico City, New York and Madrid for several weeks each. He is one half of experimental grunge project Vide Obscur and co-runs *akʷā (Planet Akwa), a platform for experimental music and visual arts. Stetter composes and produces music for theatre (Burgtheater Wien, Schauspiel Köln, Theater Basel, Ruhrfestspiele, etc.), film, audio visual installations etc.. Apart from all that, Julian Stetter is a very good hangout!
