Biography

Finnish pop singer Kristiina Brask was a finalist in the 2007 season of the television show Idols before signing a recording contract with Helsinki Music Company and releasing her debut album, Silmät Sydämeeni (2007), a Top Ten hit. Born on June 2, 1990, in Sorsakoski, Leppävirta, Finland, Brask finished third on Idols, placing behind Ari Koivunen and Anna Abreu. During her time on the television show, she sang songs by Joan Osborne ("One of Us"), Madonna ("Like a Prayer"), Celine Dion ("My Heart Will Go On"), No Doubt ("Don't Speak"), Bon Jovi ("It's My Life"), Juha Tapio ("Ohikiitävää"), the Rasmus ("Liquid"), and Teleks ("Tuulilasin Nurkkaan"). After being eliminated from the show, Brask was offered a recording contract with Helsinki Music Company and proceeded to release Silmät Sydämeeni. The album peaked at number nine on the Finnish albums chart and spawned the number 14 hit "Nyt Mä Meen" as well as a couple additional singles. ~ Jason Birchmeier, Rovi
