Ragnarök

Biography

Gungnir is a Viking black metal band from Greece, formed in 2016 by Nick Yngve (guitars, drums, vocals) who is also the drummer in the Greek thrash metal veterans Flames, Deviser, one of the oldest Greek black metal bands and also the former drummer in W.E.B., among others and Jim Havok (guitars, bass, keyboards), also a Gungnir’s original member and also the bassist in the doom/death metal band Chained And Desperate, existing since the early 90’s. After their previous band, Mortuus Sum, have split up, both Nick and Jim decided that it was time for something new, so the whole next year was used to compose the songs for the band’s debut, using unused riffs from their previous band combined with new music. To handle the vocal duties, Ithonas, former singer in Dizziness and Sulferon, was brought in as a session member and after the release of the EP, he joined as a full member, but left in 2019 and the band remained a 2-piece band. In 2018 they released the debut EP "Ragnarök" on CD and pro tape by Metal Throne Productions (Greece) and Mercyful Hell Prods (Peru) respectively. The EP contains 3 original tracks and a cover of Bathory's "Enter the Eternal Fire", featuring Ancient's leader, Zel on vocals. At the moment, the band is in the recording process of its upcoming, first full length album, "With Ravens on Our Side".
