Swilson (aka John, J Willy, JW) is an aspiring songwriter, rapper, producer, playlist curator, practicing attorney, father, coach, and former professional baseball player from Houston, Texas. He began writing music and freestyle rapping as a high school baseball player at Lamar High School where he was an all-state outfielder/pitcher committed to Rice University. He now writes and executive produces for several hip-hop, country, and house artists. Swilson emerged on the Hip-Hop scene after a viral freestyle video was picked up by Bleacher Report & Barstool Sports in 2016. At the time, he was playing professional baseball with the Chicago Cubs organization. In the famous clubhouse freestyle, he predicted his Cubs would break their 108 year losing streak and win the World Series. The video quickly accrued 10+ million views. Since then, he has released multiple full-length albums and has reached #15 on iTunes Hip-Hop. Following his baseball career, the Houston native opted to finish his degree at Rice, study law at the University of Houston, and obtain a masters of public administration degree from UNC. He has continued to write, and produce, music in his spare time. Swilson recently hit 10 million streams on Spotify featuring dozens of artists including Mike Jones, Paul Wall, Lil' Flip, Chris Webby, Felly, YONAS, Arizona Zervas, Lil’ Keke, Big Pokey, Trilly Polk, Nate Good, JZAC, Michael Minelli, & Huey Mack. Be on the look out for multiple projects from Swilson in 2024.
