Leader of the group "ISWHAT?! », Collaborator of New York saxophonist and poet Roy Nathanson & PapaNosh, and with Archie Shepp in Phat Jam, Napoleon Maddox returns with this hip hop project flavored with punchy electro and soul / funk samples. He distills his sharp, cutting flow on the productions of Sorg, the Besançon beatmaker who is part of a new generation of French electronic music. The young producer was noticed for his remix of “Wave” by Rone and for having been selected for the prestigious award of Inouïs 2017 by Printemps de Bourges. Sorg & Napoleon Maddox released their 1st EP “Ribbons & Razors” in 2014, followed by the EP “Soon” in 2016 and finally their 1st album “Checkin Us” in 2018 marked by the title “Shark Men”. They collaborated with renowned artists such as Gaël Faye, Marc Nammour, and even Dobet Gnahoré. In 2020 they are back with a new EP "We The People", released on October 30th. A title which recalls the first words of the American constitution and reflects Napoleon's texts committed to addressing turbulence which is particularly palpable in America. The opportunity for them to invite their faithful comrade Boogie Bang, from Cincinnati (as heard on the banger "Security") on the rancorous "Stick Wit It". We also find a more jazz, soulful style on "Sweat" featuring Erik Sevret, (saxophonist of Zenzile and Bad Fat). Finally, it’s the French lyricist JP Manova who graces us with his flow on "DANGER", a Hip-hop masterpiece that will delight break-dancers.
