Ellie’s musical life started at five years old, listening to vinyl given to her by her Mum's friends and falling in love with Musical Youth, Patti Smith, Beatles, Tracy Chapman, Pink Floyd, and 80s pop. In Oxford she performed her first gig at 9 years old and was writing her own songs by age 12. A big turning point was discovering dance music especially Jungle. Her parents moved to a commune in the south of France but she ran away back to Oxford at 15 where she lived in a coach and travelled to raves. By 17 and officially of no fixed abode, a friend who'd set up the Catweazle Club gave her a guitar and encouraged her to learn it. She worked random jobs, and when she met The Croissant Neuf Solar powered circus she toured with them across the Country including Glastonbury festival where she performed her songs on the CN stage at Greenfields. At 18 she joined and toured extensively with Afro-Celt fusion band Baka Beyond and recorded two albums with them. She has worked the Confidential Collective (Riz Ahmed) Country Gents and has shared stages with Ethan Ash, Emily Maguire, and George Ezra. Sending songs to the legendary Amy Wadge, Ellie was invited to spend three months with Amy as Producer, recording at ‘Woj Lodge’ where the magic of her album ‘This Time Around ‘ was created. Now Ellie is working with Zen Lewis, lead vocalist of The Royal Dub Collective and DnB producers to creating a fresh new sound. Watch this space for new releases.
