Biography

Toby Ward was born in Otley, Wharfedale in 1993. He was one of the last Wesley Scholars of Leeds Parish Church, studying singing, organ and musicology under Dr Simon Lindley, before choral scholarships in the choirs of Gloucester Cathedral, King’s College, Cambridge (while reading the Music Tripos) and postgraduate studies at the Royal College of Music. In recent years he has held or continues to hold positions at the top of his disciplines, including Director of Music of the Grand Priory of England, Organist of the National Musicians’ Church, Teacher of Singing to the choristers of Westminster Abbey, and Artistic Director of Ensemble Pro Victoria. In recent years, Toby led Ensemble Pro Victoria in live Radio 3 broadcasts from The Chapel Royal Hampton Court, St Albans Cathedral, twice on In Tune in conversation with Sean Rafferty. Across 2021-2025 he is pursuing a series of five recordings with Delphian Records.
