Most hip-hop stories don't begin with the color orange. This is not a typical hip-hop story. This artistic journey begins in fourth grade with an assignment to write a poem inspired by An Emerald Green as Grass. The poem was one about orange(the fruit and the color), the beauty of a sunset at the local beach, and the freedom a kid feels being lost in time on a summer day. This first poem sparked a lifelong love affair with writing and gave us the man we know today as VERITVS. VERITVS (pronounced vair - ih - tahs) is a Christian poet, rapper, and producer based out of San Joaquin Valley in California. He is originally from Gary, IN (best known as the birthplace of the Jacksons). He combines vulnerable storytelling, witty wordplay, and elements of his faith with eclectic soundscapes. He has performed on a variety of stages but pierces through demographics with an ability to combine his unique worldview with universal experiences. His philosophy of art can be summed up in the words he performs on Sacred Art from his first EP. He writes, " I take my pen up to penetrate hearts, and bring healing to a culture trying to live in they scars."
