Tempo 38 is a punk rock band based in Hawke's Bay, a province on the East Coast of New Zealand. Formed in 1999 the bands sound began in the vein of early to mid-90’s punk rock then later moving in a more crossover hardcore direction. Tempo 38 released 3 EP's, 2001’s ‘Our World Today’, ‘Break With Reality’ in 2002 and in 2004 ‘Con’. In 2005 the bands own label HYH Music teamed up with Australian label PEE Records to release ‘Brothers In Battle’ a split album with Adelaide based hardcore band Provoke, which was released in the summer of summer 2006/2007. The ‘Septic Proof’ EP was released in 2007 featuring the remaining tracks from the ‘Brothers In Battle’ recording sessions. The band also have tracks featured on numerous compilation CD’s released in New Zealand, Australia, Germany and the UK. Promotional videos were produced for ‘Con’ and ‘Septic Proof. The videos were picked up by C4 Homegrown (TV2) Nightline (TV3), Coke Countdown (TV2), Coke New Releases (TV2), XSTV (TV2) & Auckland's ALT TV. 2024 sees the band reuniting after an extended hiatus in which members went on to form other bands including Devils Elbow, Diamond Dead, Oxboy & Thunderhorse.
