Biography

Named one of Spotify’s 25 Most Influential Artists in Asia, Linying’s first single Sticky Leaves went viral on the platform’s global charts in 2016, cementing the Singapore-born, Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter as one of Asia’s most promising talents. Since then, her ethereal voice and stunning lyricism have been praised by a wide range of tastemakers, from Tiny Desk’s Bob Boilen to pop star Troye Sivan. Her acclaimed debut album, There Could Be Wreckage Here, saw her collaborating with MyRiot's Roy Kerr and Death Cab For Cutie’s Chris Walla, with NME naming the “deep and intensely personal” record one of Asia’s best in 2022, while it was listed one of NPR’s top albums the week of its release. Coinciding with her move to Los Angeles, Linying’s 2023 EP House Mouse marks an evolution in her sound as she follows her intuition toward a kaleidoscopic form of dream-pop, informed by her newfound contemporaries. Produced together with an eclectic team consisting of NOFX’s Jon Graber, Toro Y Moi’s Jordan Blackmon, and ska-punk bassist Brandon Benson, the result is effervescent and emotionally intimate, serving as proof of the wild magic that comes from letting go and leaning into your most unfettered impulses.
