The Monastery is a hip hop duo based in Pleasant Grove, AL, consisting of Paco and Carlos Charm. 
 "We chose the name ‘The Monastery’ because the monastery is a facility where monks live, meditate, and reach enlightenment. We felt that music, a universal language, was the channel we could strongest help those around us come together and attain a higher understanding of the world, of others, and of ourselves." 
 In 2012, Carlos Charm and Paco relocated to Tuskegee, AL, and Auburn, AL, respectively, where they released their first mixtape, “The Genesis”, in 2015, and followed up with “House Party” in 2016. The nationwide-touring act returned to Birmingham summer 2017 and created their concert series, “The Basement”, which will make its return after the pandemic. 
 The Monastery’s latest project is “Different World”, which released in July 2020. The tracklist includes “Priceless” featuring You Gene Write, and “Last Five” featuring Dion Racii.
