As TMPST, Pakistani producer Asfandyar Khan has been making music since 2012, and has been a mainstay of the country’s electronic music scene. Previously a part of Karachi’s breakthrough electronic music collective Forever South, he has five releases under his belt. His latest release, ‘CLXXXVI’ on Dutch imprint Otomo Trax is full of groove-laden techno, weaving between industrial and classic sounds, while never really forgetting a penchant for textures that define the ambient music he releases under his own name. TMPST’s music has previously been featured on Pitchfork, Fader, Dummy Mag and Rolling Stone India. In 2015, he also played at the venerated electronic music festival Magnetic Fields, sharing a roster alongside the likes of Palms Trax, Objekt, Mumdance, and DJ Koze. More recently, he was a part of Pakistan’s first Boiler Room, performing a rousing electro and techno-infused set with Kukido.
