Born and raised in the twin island of Trinidad and Tobago, Chinaka's earliest memories of music came from her father's soft strums of his guitar, hums to sleep and records on Saturday mornings. Her love for music was innate and came naturally as she began singing in the church where her talent was nurtured. This then led to her performing at open mic shows throughout the country. Naturally, her deep connection to music would not end there as she began expressing her thoughts and feelings with the pen. She started with Calypso, an musical genre indigenous to the Caribbean, for school competitions, and eventually found her footing in Neo Soul. Her music explores the topics of love, self development, disappointment and of course heartbreak, taking you through the relatable journey called life. Her first and latest release, Make Me Whole, takes you down the rabbit hole of guarded lovers, hesitant, yet yearning for intimacy and comfort in their vulnerability.
