An award-winning musician, Benjamin Beck is known for his exceptional versatility and exploration of various art forms through his transcription works. He currently holds the position of principal viola at the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra and will take up the same role at the Vienna State Opera/ Vienna Philharmonic in July 2023. He is also a professor at Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles. Benjamin has performed in venues including the Berlin Philharmonie, Paris Philharmonie, Munich National Theatre, and Tokyo Yamaha Hall. Since he participated in his first international competition at 16, where he won both the 1st and special prizes in the Llanes International String Competition, he has won numerous awards in international competitions. Benjamin released his first solo album, “Les voix de l’alto,” in 2015 and has since participated in the production of more than 10 CDs, including the Sibelius’ symphonies with Sir Simon Rattle and the Berlin Philharmonic. In April 2023, he released his second solo album, “Love beyond Death,” by GENUIN classics. As an arranger, Benjamin has recorded his first work, a transcription of Schubert’s song cycle Winterreise for viola, harp, and narrator in 2009. In 2019, he arranged Janacek’s The Cunning Little Vixen for viola, piano, and actor. His most recent project is transcribing Wagner’s opera Lohengrin for string sextet, which was premiered in the Wagner Museum Bayreuth in 2020 and published by Hofmeister Musikverlag in 2023.
