Speech Defect is a Hip Hop group from Sweden composed of Boogie B, Mr Linus and Dj Ego. The group was formed when Boogie and Linus met in school as young teenagers in their hometown Halmstad in the early nineties and later joined forces by former members: Thage Olé and Prao-D. The group released numerous of demos and mixtapes under various names and debuted in 1999 with their first vinyl 12” "Zoobiz". Their music where distributed by a friend of Boogie to the legendary record store: Mr Bongo Records, London who bought up almost all available copies. This was the breakthrough of an international music career that follow. Throughout the 00’s the group released numerous of vinyl singles and three full length albums and toured over 15 countries including Japan, United States, UK and Germany. In 2010 Speech Defect was featured in the song “B-boy on Wax” produced by Wax Tailor. The record sold gold in France the same year. Speech Defects’ music can be distinguished by clear influences from funk, soul and jazz, with several similarities to groups like The Pharcyde, People Under The Stairs and Ugly Duckling which whom they collaborated.
