Biography

The original Southsea Jazz Club is a collaborative project created by Tommy Brown & producer Diamondback Kid, both founding members of Southsea outfit South Coast Ghosts. Hip-Hop beats fused with jazzy guitars and keys pervade throughout, with songwriting credits and vocals shared by Fugitive Orchestra (also of the Ghosts) and Mayfield Records' artist Hannah Reem. Horns come courtesy of Teddy Trumpet with bass by Sean Brophy (two more core members of the Ghosts) and additional guest vocals are provided by local singer songwriter Kylie Earl, artist and spoken word vocalist Mark Podyma and Southsea rapper Sinsink. Additional piano was added to the EP by Mike Leatherbarrow. The track ‘Bolognese (feat. Kylie Earl)’ from this EP has been supported and played by BBC Introducing Solent. Jazz, Funk, Hip-Hop with expertly crafted lyrics and hard-hitting, often political themes make the Southsea Jazz Club a collaboration like no other and a stunning, inventive and unique addition to the Mayfield Records roster.
