Grigoris Grigoriou was born in Athens in 1978. He is the son of the composer Michalis Grigoriou and the cinematographer Anna Goulioti. He began taking private piano lessons at the age of 6 with Eleni Keramea, and then with Reima Rayers and Nelli Semitekolo. He continued his studies in music at the Model (Protipo) Music Center of Piraeus, obtaining a degree in Harmony in 1997, and took composition lessons by the composer Kyriakos Sfetsas. In the same year he was admitted to Panteion University in the Department of Sociology, where he received his degree in 2003. In March 2003 he began his doctorate in composition at the Ionian University in the Department of Music Studies on "Music for Literary Text – Gulliver’s Travels by J. Swift", successfully defending his dissertation in February 2010. At the same time he continued his studies in music at the Central Conservatory, obtaining a degree in Counterpoint in June 2010. In 2019 he was admitted to the St. Petersburg State Conservatory in Russia where he attended composition classes for two semesters with the composer Anton Tanonov. His work includes works of various genres, from solo instruments, chamber music, and electronic music to a full-size symphony orchestra. He has given various concerts as a performer and composer in Greece, and has composed music for television and documentaries. Since November 2020 Grigoris Grigoriou is represented by Musicentry.
