Nominated for a Latin Grammy, winner of the Carlos Gardel Prize (Argentina’s Grammy) and a member of the Tango Hall of Fame, María Volonté is a singer, guitarist and composer dedicated to an intimate and intensely feminine approach to tango. Volonté burst onto the Buenos Aires music scene like a breath of fresh air with her first CD, Tango y Otras Pasiones (1996). This CD was named one of the 100 Greatest Tango Recordings of All Time by the La Nación newspaper. Her 2003 CD “Fuimos” won the Gardel Prize for Best Tango Album and was nominated for a Latin Grammy. Volonté has released 10 albums, three of which have been nominated for the prestigious Gardel Prize. Throughout her career, Volonté has generated her own space in the universe of Argentine popular music.
