Biography

Edward Reekers featured on the Kayak's studio albums Periscope Life (1980), Merlin (1981) and live album Eyewitness (1981) until they split in 1982. He released solo albums The Last Forest (1980), Stages (1993), and Child of the Water (2008). He continued to tour Europe as a backing singer with artists like Meatloaf, Oleta Adams, Bobby Kimball and even Caterina Valente, and also appearing on records and tours with several Dutch and Belgian artists as well as the legendary Demis Roussos. His solo single “The words to say I love you” was included in a soap opera in Brasil and became very popular there. He is a notable collaborator with fellow Dutch prog-rock polymath Arjen Lucassen and his Ayreon project, featuring on The Final Experiment (1995), Actual Fantasy (1996), Into the Electric Castle (1998), Universal Migrator Pt 1: The Dream Sequencer (2000), Ayreonauts Only (2000), Ayreon Universe (2018) and Electric Castle and Other Tales (2020). On The Liberty Project, Reekers turned to Joost van den Broek, who he had met during his Ayreon performances, asking him to help him get the Liberty Project on its way. The collaboration turned out to be a magical one. And that's not the only friend he's had a little help from. Besides the forementioned guitar work by Arjen Lucassen, Mark Lennon of Venice did the lead vocals for a song; Harry Sacksioni delivered a guitar solo, and former Genesis member Steve Hackett contributed a guitar part.
