The National Chamber Choir "Madrigal - Marin Constantin" is a symbol of the Romanian and universal musical life. Since it was founded in 1963 by the conductor Marin Constantin (1925 - 2011), the Madrigal Choir has performed over 4,500 concerts applauded worldwide, establishing itself as a true "country brand". It is one of the world standards of the chamber choral music, with a repertoire aimed at the European Renaissance, Byzantine music and contemporary Romanian and universal creation. In November 2016, the National Chamber Choir "Madrigal - Marin Constantin" was officially recognized as Ambassador of Freedom, Hope and Peace, receiving the award "Jean Nussbaum and Eleanor Roosevelt" at the United Nations Palace in Geneva during the Global Summit of Religion, Peace and Security. In 2020, the Madrigal Choir celebrated 57 years of uninterrupted activity, becoming one of the longest-lived choral ensembles. In 2021, the Madrigal Choir was invited to perform at the acclaimed Mozartwoche Festival in Salzburg, Austria, in the famous Mozarteum Hall, under the baton of conductor Ion Marin.
