Biography

It all started years ago when David took his musical inspiration from artists as diverse as Timbaland, The Prodigy or Gesaffelstein. Today, David is a heavyweight in his own right. His minimalist, pop-infused musical vision has conquered dance floors and playlists around the globe. His breakthrough moment occurred in early 2019 when David‘s track „Ghost Trance“ was released on Glasgow based „Belters“. The track got picked up and played out by the big names such as Dixon, Âme, Peggy Gou, Keinemusik, Solomun and Roman Flügel. They turned the tune into their favourite hidden weapon, and thanks to that support, „Ghost Trance“ was picked by mixmag‘s „Big Tunes“ section as number one, comparing it to „2019‘s answer to Roman Flügel‘s Geht‘s Noch?“. After contributing to Innervisions‘ „Secret Weapons“ Series in late 2021, David‘s debut album „Warming Unit“ was released on Belters in 2022. It‘s an impressive next step, a rough, analogue and almost brutally sweet glimpse into David‘s artistic vision, and it received worldwide recognition. On the album, noisy grippiness walks hand in hand with catchy melodies, and they both wander off into an unexplored, dark and slightly aggressive textural territory. Yes, it‘s artistic. And techno. And both at the same time. The title track „Night Leaving“ is listed in mixmag‘s „Best tracks of 2022“. Text by Yannick Labbé
