Biography

b. 7 July 1976, Lymm, Cheshire, England. Taking up trumpet and moved by jazz of an earlier generation, in the mid-90s Fishwick, along with his twin brother, drummer Matt, attended London’s Royal Academy of Music. There, he met tenor saxophonist Osian Roberts who became a close musical associate. He also played in bands led by Mike Carr and Matt Wates. At the start of the 00s, the Fishwicks and Roberts collaborated with French musicians resident in London, including pianist Olivier Slama who stayed on with the group into the mid-00s. During this period, the band included Dave Chamberlain (bass) and Matt Home (drums), although Matt Fishwick still played with them on occasion but was by this time living in New York City. Fishwick has played with many noted jazz artists, including Richie Cole, Herb Geller, Lanny Morgan, Anita O’Day and Cedar Walton. Much of the repertoire played by the Roberts-Fishwick band is composed by the co-leaders and displays a thorough appreciation of the hard bop genre.
