Biography

Jamal Aliyev is a Turkish cellist performing with the top orchestras and conductors around the world. In 2021 Jamal Aliyev was featured as one of Classic FM's "30 of the most brilliant young classical musicians playing today." He is known for his unconditional love for his country and his hope to use music to introduce Turkish culture to the world. In 2017 he made his solo debut at the BBC Proms with the BBC Concert Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall performing for the celebrated film music composer John Williams' 85th Birthday. On the concert platform, Jamal has given recitals and taken part in chamber music at venues including Wigmore Hall and Royal Albert Hall (London), Atheneum (Bucharest), Forbidden City Concert Hall (Beijing), Presidential Concert Hall (Ankara), Rachmaninov Hall (Moscow), Arts Parliament House (Singapore) and the Merkin Concert Hall (New York). Solo appearances include the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Northern Sinfonia, BBC Concert and BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, City Of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Tomsk Philharmonic in Siberia, Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra Of Venezuela, the Kennemer Jeugd Orkest in Holland and Istanbul, Bilkent and Presidential Symphony Orchestras in Turkey among many others. Hugely popular in Turkey, he returns to give recitals with Fazıl Say, and to perform concertos by Franz Joseph Haydn and Dmitri Shostakovich with the Istanbul, Izmir, Bursa, CSO, Eskisehir and Mersin Symphony Orchestras.
