Born in Manchester. Played tenor sax with a few notorious groups inc 'Beau Leisure' at the Haçienda. I recorded a few tracks for Atlantic Records and chased record deals whilst working as an in-house programmer and sound engineer for Morrison-Leahy Music. Signed to 'Mo Wax' records and released a jazz dance track called 'If' which was particularly appreciated in Japan. I moved to New York in the summer of 1994 where l started my first solo project called 'Small Area'. New York inspired 70's cop show, Acid Jazz style tune. Drum and bass to Free jazz and back to Garage Over the years l have recorded in various styles and have worked with many artists and producers such as Gavin Mills aka 'DJ Face', Nico of No U Turn Records, Freeway inc project with Brian Tharme on Fruitbeard records..... list goes on. I have been lucky enough to work with some great jazz musicians in the UK and recorded a couple of vocal jazz trio albums. “Saints & Singers” and “Are we there yet?” with The Malcolm Edmonstone Trio. Spotify search for "Tom Rust and the Malcolm Edmonstone Trio". This new record with Jazz pianist John Horler.
