Hi, my name is Cortrell, and I'm from Paterson, NJ. I first knew I wanted to sing when I was six years old. My mother used to play pop in our household (*NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, Christina Aguilera). Still, it wasn't until I was old enough to go downstairs to my uncle house that I would be opening the door to my true inspirations. The first CD I ever bought was Brandy's NSN, and it instantly made me want to become a singer to see this black teenager making Pop/R&B music inspired me at a young age. I didn't take music seriously until I was 19 in college. I had just gone through a break-up, and the music was the only thing that helped me express myself, and it still does till this day. Whenever I'm feeling away about something or what someone did to me, I write a song to help me get over it, or if it's more serious, I write a song to heal myself.
