Biography

When fans discover an artist, they often fall into a “rabbit hole,” digging through lesser-known albums and early interviews to uncover the artist’s full story. But when fans discover cult-hero Rx Papi (born Chester A. Roscoe; May 17, 1995), they fall into a canyon. His discography is jam-packed with thousands of songs, countless mixtapes, and early interviews surpassing ten thousand words. This ability to drop songs nonstop has drawn him comparisons to Lil B, the godfather of internet-rap who has cosigned Rx Papi numerous times. When discussing Rx Papi’s jarring release pace, Earl Sweatshirt put it perfectly, marveling at the idea that in 2021 Papi “lived an entire rap career in a year.” With a punch-in style of rapping akin to fragmented freestyling, Rx Papi makes most of his songs in ten minutes or less; a natural gift that allows for such an absurd output. (Unless we’re talking about “Therapy Session,” his 19-minute long epic.) He says that he developed this style “by not just not giving a fuck,” and the pointedness of his lyrics make that clear.
