Uni Ika Ai paints a swirling dream pop with a palette reflecting the engaging vocals and music of writer, singer and multi-instrumentalist Maia Friedman. 
 Uni Ika Ai’s [pronounced: oo­nee ee­kuh eye] debut album, Keeping A Golden Bullseye In The Corner of My Mind, balanced psychedelic haze with a pop heartbeat – a "rhythmic, wonderfully askew brand of ethereal pop" (Stereogum) that The Wild Honey Pie says is a "new kind of off-kilter dream pop that the genre has been waiting for." Uni Ika Ai was born from musical dialogue and experimentation. While bandmate Pete Lalish was on tour with Lucius, Friedman sent him fragments and inspirations; he replied with new ideas recorded at soundchecks. Reunited, the material blossomed into fully formed songs. 
 In addition to Maia (Dirty Projectors, Bobby), the Brooklyn-based band includes artists well-known and admired by their fellow musicians: Peter Lalish (Lucius, Elizabeth & The Catapult) and Tom Deis (Via Audio).
