LA native Aniqa Anjum is an emerging South Asian artist. Born to Bangladeshi immigrant parents, the singer grew up with limited exposure to Western music, instead immersed in a household prominently playing Bangladeshi and Indian classical music. From reciting Bengali poetry to playing the sitar, the artist has been performing for her community since the age of 3. Additionally, she is a dancer trained in Bharatanatyam, Kathak, and Bangladeshi folk dance. In high school, Aniqa Anjum joined the Dances of the World team, where she danced to music of various cultures. During this time, she also began to explore Hip Hop and R&B music for herself, uploading cover songs to Youtube. In the year of 2020, an abundance of leisure time and build-up of emotions inspired the artist to begin recording her own written music. This same year, she began attending UC Berkeley. As an oldest daughter and first-generation student, Aniqa Anjum is self-guided in her journey of creating space to exist as an independent artist. She is emotional, sensual, and spiritual in her expression of a Bangladeshi-American young woman navigating love and romance, despite the expectations her Bangladeshi culture places her in. Aniqa Anjum is committed to representing her identity by working with a team of prominently Bangladeshi and POC. Any donations to her cashapp $aniqanjum will be directed towards upcoming projects and being able to pay her team. Thank you so much for being a part of Aniqa Anjum's journey. 🤍
