Daniel Paul is a Fulbright Award winning tabla drummer with a percussion degree from the Ali Akbar College of Music (aacm.org) where he studied under India’s great classical masters (Ali Akbar Khan, Zakir Hussain and Swapan Chaudhuri). His nine years at the conservatory included becoming a staff teacher and personal assistant to Maestro Khan as well as serving in many variations of the college’s orchestras. For the past two decades he has been a highly sought after accompanist to all of today’s top kirtan singers. He teaches at his home on Maui when not touring with Gina Salá or world music pioneer Jai Uttal. Now, in the time of Covid, he is producing drum and basic Indian vocal online lessons for children and adults, featuring nursery rhymes in sargam and tabla style Arabic drumming.
