Biography

Cacao Mental is a musical project born in 2014 from the meeting of Kit Ramos, a Peruvian singer, and Stefano Iascone, a Milanese producer and multi-instrumentalist. Their collaboration fused acoustic and electronic atmospheres, focusing on cumbia, a danceable genre originating in Colombia and widely popular in Latin America, from Peru to Mexico and Argentina. After years of exploring a unique sonic identity, guitarist Marco Pampaluna from Milan joined as a permanent member. In 2017, the trio debuted live, delivering an electrifying mix of electric, acoustic, and electronic instruments that got audiences dancing across Italy. In May of that year, their tracks Tingo María and Ayahuasca Sublime were featured in the compilation Istituto Italiano di Cumbia, Vol. 1 , marking the start of their journey blending cumbia with psychedelia into a distinctive sound. Among their works, the single Mercante, released on October 27, 2024, in collaboration with Peruvian band La Inedita, previews the album Para Extrañas Criaturas. This record consolidates their fusion of tradition and experimentation, charting new musical paths. Following their second album, Reproducción (2022), the trio continues innovating, as shown by Chinito, a 2024 collaboration with Addict Ameba. More music is coming to surprise and make audiences dance again.
