Biography

When the world collapsed in early 2020, social media and music began to merge rapidly. For many artists, TikTok boosted their careers. Jordan Cortez—just 16 years old at the time, had no audience or portfolio; he recorded into an EarPod mic over filtered beats in GarageBand. Even still, he had something: a vision. Almost 3 years later, Cortez shared a piece of that vision for the first time, uploading a 2-minute video on TikTok of him ripping Jack Harlow's "Churchill Downs" beat in a room with his classmates. In forethought, no one imagined anything special—with 60 followers and 1 video, what could the clip possibly achieve? Nothing, right?    Cortez woke up with over 5K followers and a viral, over 1M-view video—the kickstart to a series he dubbed ‘The Classroom’ . Since then, he’s gained over 1M likes and 66K followers in 5 months alone. Born January 8, 2004 in Milwaukee, WI, Jordan borrows his cadence and flows from that same gritty, cold area. His production draws straight from cinema—synth pads, violin scores and booming 808s.   Now that he's landed gigs in Los Angeles, worked with GRAMMY-nominated producers, and gained the attention of underground rap, Cortez is readying his first body of work; fans have been fed with another series called “The Lounge”, where Cortez calmly spits about his spiritual life over smooth, soulful beats. He’s moved from secular to a more faith-based style, but can still give the same energy from his amazing first impression in The Classroom.
