Biography

AN IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT In 2016, The Volunteers formed in a dank basement. 2 years after that (and vocal lineup changes), we recorded an album full of our best work. The time in between was some of the most fun I've had in my life. From street performing for 1 person to playing onstage screaming out to 200+ people, it didn't matter. We were a group of friends having fun seeing how far we could take this band. That said, all good things must come to an end.
We regret to inform everyone that we are going on an indefinite hiatus. We will release a couple of songs left over, but otherwise things are coming to a close. Jacob, our vocalist and bass player, has moved out of state. Our drummer and producer Zack is going to pursue a college education in Chicago. Shane, our guitar player, is pursuing college education in STL. And I will probably stay a songwriting anxious mess. In the future, we'll be using this page to release any left over songs/updates and to promote our individual projects. It's been a lot of fun and I will deeply miss playing live with one of the best groups of friends I could ask for.
 Hail crab, Matt
...and for one final time...no thanks, to Afton Booking...
